I feel so blessed to have known and loved Marjorie as a colleague at The Christian Science Monitor, as a fellow church member, and friend in our beloved JP neighborhood. At work, I first admired Marjorie through her thoughtful prose. But when I met her she became a mentor, a cheerleader, and a gentle spot of encouragement in the newsroom. At church Marjorie gave such thoughtful and inspiring testimonies from her life that were so helpful to me as a young, single professional. She had the ability during tense church meetings to pull the gold out of the crabbiest members and lift it up for all to see. Her love story of meeting and marrying John was her *favorite* story to tell (next to meeting and loving Sheba, Travis, Lily, and Lucy ). Marjorie used to say she was the last to marry among her friends but the first to be a grandma. She loved her extended family so much! I loved being her neighbor, taking strolls in the Arboretum, or being a groupie with her at some of John's many gigs. Wow! We are so lucky Marjorie was on our team. How did that happen?! I will love her forever and I know her light is continuing to bless many, many others, too. I hope I can be as a loving a mentor to others as she was to me. I'll give it my best swing, Marjorie! Lots of love, Kendra Nordin Beato
