I will always remember Marjorie for her kindness and warmth, one rooted in always seeing the good in others. She saw the good in me when she hired me as an intern 10 years ago, inviting me to the newsroom with a warm enthusiasm I will never forget. When I moved from the area two years later, she extended a hand to me, inviting me to blog for the Books section she oversaw, which became a lifeline for me as I started a family and cared for young children. She was, quite simply, a pleasure to work for – thoughtful, intelligent, caring.
