Nobody but nobody laughed like Marjorie! Or told a story like Marjorie, or listened compassionately like Marjorie, or jumped into everything she did like Marjorie, with her whole heart and soul and being. And what a heart! As big as all the world. Reading the comments here has brought me to tears. She touched so many lives, including mine. Many moons ago, when we were newly-minted adults, Marjorie shared a one-bedroom apartment with my two sisters and me. We were crammed in like sardines (one of us slept in the closet), and broke, and loathed our menial entry-level jobs, but we all had big dreams and boy did we have fun! Our laughter each evening as we shared the indignities of our respective days about blew the roof off. One night, when Marjorie was feeling particularly low, my sisters and I conspired to cheer her up, and drafted “adoption” papers, making her an honorary Vogel sister. And that’s what she’s been all the long decades since - a sister as well as a dear friend. Big love to you always, Marjorie, as you would say - and to you, dear John, for cherishing this gem of a woman. Heaven knows she cherished you! When my mom passed away, I came across something she’d written in the back of her hymnal that comforted me, and perhaps it will comfort you. She wrote: “Isn’t it wonderful to know that God can come with me and still be with you.” There’s a wideness in those words that buoys me - you, and Marjorie, and each one of us are embraced by a Love that knows no separation, no barriers of time or distance, no here or hereafter. Marjorie is continuing to share her beautiful heart - and her one-of-a-kind laugh! - at a new address.
