Though Marjorie and I never had the opportunity to become close friends, our paths crossed regularly for 20 years. Our shared interests in writing, church, books, animals and later, with John's influence, music ensured that we kept in frequent touch-- and I am so grateful that we did. While her kindness was surely the first thing we all noticed about her, I also came to appreciate her unfailing integrity. Since hearing the news, I've thought of how I am going to miss her and have held to a line from a hymn many of us know: "...Love alone is Life; And life most sweet, as heart to heart speaks kindly when we meet and part."
