When I first met Marjorie, I was quickly presented with the image of someone who shall forever remain a role model, friend and guide. It stood out to me, how someone could be so smart, deep, intelligent and successful and yet so humble, funny and down to earth. Her heart shone out toward me like a beam of pure light, and it truly healed me during the summer I worked for her. Every day I was able to spend time with her, I asked her questions about her perspective on all sorts of things and it was an honour to listen to the stories and insights she shared. We quickly became friends, someone I would have loved to see so much more often. Her presence is so clearly etched into my heart and I feel it still with me! I remember, when we both went to a concert of her husband, who is one of the coolest and down-to-earth person I have ever met, and she was so joyful and grateful, so present with the music. She told me that it never gets old for her, no matter how often she hears him play. The love and the relationship the two had remains a model of depth, gratitude and light-heartedness to me! Marjorie struck me as someone who fought to always keep her thought uplifted, to choose gratitude and joy, to choose light-heartedness over getting pulled down, she was always looking forward and seemed to me absolutely uncomplaining, which to me was a revelation. She lived her life so fully and beautifully, that I can truly say, she changed mine, by simple living hers. I am infinitely grateful that Marjorie came into my life, where she will stay!
