Many people are nice. Some are even unfailingly polite. But Marjorie was something rarer still: she saw the genius in everyone. That quality extended even to an element of journalism where transactionalism and brutal efficiency are called for: sifting high volumes of pitches. The nicest rejection of a pitch I've ever received came from Marjorie. I didn't think it was possible to feel *better* after hearing "no" but somehow Marjorie's sincerity and affection brightened the day considerably. Bravo, Marjorie. You showed the rest of us the profound power of simple goodness.
