I interviewed with Marjorie for my intern position at the Monitor and was hugely nervous but her kindness put me at ease immediately. Over the next several years of working next to her, I only saw more of her kindness and good cheer. She made every day better and I loved every chat we had about books, movies, and theater. At one point at work, desks were rearranged and two people had to be put in another area of the newsroom, far away from everyone else. She and I went and there's no one else with whom I would rather have been put in what we called "Siberia."
